Jean Elizabeth Lane
Jean Elizabeth Lane, age 96, of Peel, passed away on Thursday, February 21, 2019 at Pine Grove Nursing Home in Fredericton. She was predeceased by her parents, Edwin and Florence Hovey; husbands, Hedley Guerrier, Homer Lane; son Robert Guerrier; sister, Darlene Hovey; brothers, Lester (Anna) Hovey and Sheldon Hovey.

Jean was committed to her family, friends and to her community as-a-whole. She was admired and gained recognition for her life values and community contributions. She worked diligently in her gardens of flowers and vegetables which gave her many pleasant hours. Jean was a woman who strove for excellence in her life tasks gaining awards for her knitting, crocheting, cooking, quilting and flowers. A favorite phrase to her children was “Whatever you do, do it right! Do not give up!” Jean was awarded the 50 Year Recognition pin from the Canadian Red Cross. She held a passion for her spiritual life and always contributed to the needs and gave service to her church community. She enjoyed and held executive positions with the Seniors Group and was a member of the Women’s Institute, again accepting leadership roles on the executive. Jean sold Avon gaining recognition in sales quotas. She moved to Saint John and worked in the Simms Brush and Broom Factory to support her children. When her children finished school, she returned to her home in Peel, her place on the river with fields of wild flowers, birds and bees that filled her with joy from sunup to sundown. Her death is both sad for those who loved her and a joy, for her, as she longed to be reunited with her beloved husband Homer and her son, Robert, in the beautiful community of heaven.

Jean is survived by her son, Ronald Guerrier of Peel; daughters, Elaine Guerrier-Brown (Donald), Rothesay, NB, Carol Ann Guerrier-Hanley (Thomas), New Maryland, NB; grandchildren, Tracy Brown-Walls (Jamie), Jason Brown (Alexis), Thomas F.F. Hanley (Danielle), Chantelle Hanley (Geoffrey), Tyler Hanley, Serenity Guerrier-Blanchard (Mike), Sebastian Guerrier (Erin), Alan Walls; great grandchildren, Adrian Walls, Damien Brown, Carissa Brown, Eva Blanchard, Lydia Blanchard, Nolan Bond-Guerrier, Becket Bond-Guerrier, Madelaine Hanley, Kieran Hanley, Thomas George Hanley Holloway; brothers, Lloyd Hovey (Virginia), Toronto, ON, James Percy Hovey, Parrsboro, NS.

Visitation will be held at the Britton Funeral Home, 2 High Street, Hartland on Wednesday, February 27, 2019 from 5- 7 p.m. The funeral service will be at the funeral home on Thursday at 2 p.m. with Pastor Harry Waugh officiating and Robert Trites assisting. The interment will be in the Greenwood Cemetery at a later date. If so desired, donations can be made to the Gideon Bibles or the Alzheimer Society. www.brittonfh.ca
