As a child, Mildred attended the Chesley Ave. Public School and Commercial High School until grade 10. After school she printed menu cards for a restaurant. During the second World War, she left high school to work as a secretary for the Royal Canadian Air Force Training School. In 1945, at the end of the war, she worked as a secretary for Super Silk Hosiery. In 1946 she married Paul Regnault in London, Ontario, and then they moved to Vancouver. While in Vancouver they started their family. In 1951 Paul graduated from University and they returned to Toronto. Although Mildred had never cooked much prior to being married, she developed excellent skills in the kitchen and became a proficient hostess when people came to visit. Paul and Mildred's home was always open to friends, family and missionaries. Mildred's fingers never stopped working. She was always making clothes for her four children, the grandchildren, for herself, and she even made a suit for her husband. Many a couple received matching pillow slips, or quilts, as wedding gifts. Many young parents were also recipients of the baby quilts that she made. Mildred, as well as doing all that was required as a mother and wife in their home, was also active in various ladies groups. She was a secretary for the Gospel Mission of South America as well as for the pastor of the Long Branch Baptist Church. After her youngest child, Pauline, was in school she volunteered at the school. She also was known to run the tractor on the farm, even with the snow blower attached.
