Carolyn A. DeMerchant

It is with very heavy hearts that the family of Carolyn Anne DeMerchant of East Brighton announce her passing on Thursday, May 14, 2026, at the Upper River Valley Hospital in Waterville. She was born October 29, 1958, and was the daughter of the late Arthur and Evelyn Carten. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, David Carten; infant sister, Shirley Carten; sisters-in law, Shirley Boyer, Shirley Carten (Ralph), Dorothy Trecartin (David) and Bernice Trecartin (Eric)

Carolyn is survived by her husband, Murray DeMerchant; sons, Anthony DeMerchant (Joyce), Andrew DeMerchant (Melissa James); grandchildren, Lucille, Elrie, Rainey, Cassie, Shianne, Levi, Ramona, Klay; siblings, Marie Carten (Jeff Page), Eldon Carten (Sheila), John Carten, Lynn Cronje (David), Laurie Donovan (Michael) Brent Carten (Daphne); sisters-in-law, Kaye Grant (Doug), Deborah Ritchie (Cliff), Juanita Sprague (Lester); brothers-in-law, James Boyer (Joyce), Ken Boyer, Maynard DeLong (Cindy), Matthew Cogswell (Angela), and several nieces and nephews.

At Carollyn’s request, there will be no visitation or funeral service. There will be a graveside service held at 2:00 p.m. on June 6, 2026, in the Greenwood Cemetery in Hartland. If so desired, donations to the River Valley Cancer Support Group would be appreciated.
